Walking With You Into The Next Chapter
My Story
I came by this work honestly. In my early 30s I found myself completely adrift. I had a great job in the federal government, and good friends. Yet I was depressed to the point where getting out of bed was only made possible by the fact that if I didn't go to work I'd be homeless, and that was somewhat worse than my situation at the time, so I went. Anxiety was such a constant companion I didn't even consider myself anxious - I thought sleeping three or four hours a night and being incapable of opening mail or planning for any kind of future was normal.
What brought me out of this was honestly either divine intervention or a complete fluke (I'll leave that to you); what followed wasn't. I came home one night, and as soon as I crossed the threshold a voice deep inside told me "you're acting like a loser, but you're not" - simple, to the point. It shocked me. I went to bed, and when I woke everything changed. For the first time in months I could think, the clouds had parted. So I ran, not walked, to a therapist suggested by a friend.
I went through a few years of excellent therapy and grew a lot, but something was still blocked. That's when I came across hypnotherapy. Three or four sessions, and several significant blocks were gone.
I was hooked and sought out a way to learn how to do this so I could pay it back - help people who were stuck like I was (and sometimes still am, we're all a work in progress!). The stars aligned and I found an excellent program through the Association of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ACH). I chose this program due to its neuroscience base, the one-on-one support, and the requirement for significant client hours to qualify for certification. We don't work in theory, we work with people.
Through the program, I had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. I accumulated well over 200 hours of practical work sitting with people dealing with issues ranging from insomnia to divorce recovery, to working through complex trauma.
I have come to truly love this work, and feel that I have finally found where I can make a difference. If my story sounds familliar, let's talk. I'm here to help.
